Teacher | Writer | Photographer
Well, hello there! I’m Augusto…
A high school teacher by profession, I’m also a writer and photographer with an interest in telling stories about the people, places, and foods I’ve encountered on my travels near and far. I’m also the creator and host of the Life of Gusto podcast which explores fascinating individuals who are leading lives of passion and purpose.
I enjoy adventures in cold, bug-free places, sipping wine, beer, and whisky with friends, and take way too many pictures of my coffee. I dabble in interior design, love to cook for others, and secretly enjoy belting out power ballads in empty stairwells.
My writing and photographs have appeared in various print and online publications including Travelers Tales, GoNomad, Marin Magazine, The Los Angeles Times and most recently, the photography book “San Francisco on Instagram.”
I’m a devoted uncle to Kaliyah and Mathias (“my munchkins” as I like to call them). Currently, I’m planning a house build in Montana, working on a book project, and eternally dreaming of my next trip.
I have relocated to San Diego where I grew up and am getting reacquainted with SoCal traffic, temps above 80°, and riceless burritos.
